Day 79 - San Antonio - Austin, Texas, USA
Day 79 – 26th August 2005 -6:00 GMT Total Miles 13506
Checked out of the hotel and drove to the North Star mall on the outskirts of San Antonio, The mall entrance has the world’s largest Cowboy Boots.
Giant Cowboy Boots
We wandered around the mall for an hour then had a bite to eat. We drove for about 40 Mins and after a stop for a quick shop at Wal-Mart we arrived at the Natural Bridge Caverns. We paid for the basic tour of the caves which takes about 75 minutes. We seemed to be on a tour with a group of extremely slow foreigners. Our guide led us from one cavern to another until we were 280FT underground, it is 70F in the caves with a humidity of 99% so it was very hot.

After we had finished the cave tour we drove onto Austin which is the capital of Texas. We checked into a Super 8 Motel near the city centre. After a couple of hours sleep, we adventured to 6th Street which is where all the bars and restaurants are. We had some food and a beer before heading back to the hotel. I then got my hair cut and stayed up and watched the film Ray before crashing out.
