Day 175 - Christchurch, New Zealand

Day 175 – 30th November 2005 +13:00 GMT Total Miles 30081

Jill woke me up early as today we had to return the car so Reece and I drove down the road to the car rental office and returned the car, then we walked back to the hostel. When we were both up and ready we had a walk into the city centre. Christchurch built by mostly the British, designed the city on a square mile of boggy land in the 1850’s. All the roads in the centre are named after British Cathedral City’s i.e. Manchester, Worcester, Gloucester, Oxford etc.

Bridge of Rememberance

We visited Cathedral Square which is actually in the shape of a cross there is a large Cathedral in the square and a market. We then walked up and down the streets looking in a few shops.

Giant Vase in Cathedral Square

We stopped at a mall for lunch and then I headed back to the hostel and attempted a crossword for a few hours while doing my washing. In the evening we went back into the city centre and found some food, then into a pub which had a special on of two pints of beer and an hour of pool for £4.50 so Reece and I played pool for an hour, Reece just beat me 5 games to 4. We then headed back to the hostel for the night where Jill and I watched the Season Finale of Dawson’s Creek before going to sleep.
