Day 174 - Mount Cook - Christchurch, New Zealand

Day 174 – 29th November 2005 +13:00 GMT Total Miles 30078

Did not sleep to well as every time someone came in or out of the room it woke us up. Got up early and was checked out and on the road by 9:30am.

Leaving Mount Cook

We drove back along the gorgeous Lake Tekapo and stop at Tekapo to take some photos and get some Coffee. We sit outside by the edge of the lake sipping our coffee and staring across the lake at the Southern Himalayas Mountain Range.

We then drive on until we reach the town of Geraldine and stop for some lunch, the café makes this fantastic Pumpkin and Mint soup and the best toasties. As we are passing the car we notice that one of the shops has the worlds largest Jumper, we can’t miss this so we visit the shop and chat with the owner and take a photo of this huge jumper.

We then carry on our journey until we reach our final destination in New Zealand of Christchurch. Just before we reached Christchurch my Ipod stopped working and got very very hot, unfortunately it seems to have melted all of the inside. We find our hostel which is called Foley Towers and I go to check in while Reece parks the car, as Reece is parking he catches the side of the cube on a raised garden bed and dents the bottom of the car and part of the door. Jill and I get shown to our room which is a nice size room with an en-suite bathroom, the rooms are all around a garden and at the moment the sun is shining and it is a gorgeous day. Jill and I both fall asleep for a few hours then get up to cook before going back to sleep.
