Checked out of the hotel just after 11am and headed across LA towards Santa Monica then drove along route 1 the Pacific Coast highway. This is a slow winding route that takes you along the Californian coast. We drove through Malibu and Santa Barbara and through San Louis Obispo. We stopped several times on route to rake photos and carried on until we reached Big Sur where we hunted for lodgings but everything was far to expensive for a quick overnight stop so we carried on until we reached Monterey. Here we found a reasonably priced motel. We ordered an Indian for delivery and settled down for the night.
